33 foreign companies entered Latvian market last year
According to the statistics of Latvian Investment and Development Agency last year, 33 foreign companies entered the Latvian market, according to information from the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
In entering the Latvian market, these investors are expected to create approximately 1 601 new jobs, and well as make approximately EUR 81.23 million in investments.
When compared to 2012, the number of foreign investors entering the Latvian market has increased two-fold, as in 2012, only 15 foreign companies entered the Latvian market, creating 1 249 new jobs and making approximately LVL 33.6 million in investments.
The Investment and Development Agency points out that the companies that entered the Latvian market last year operate in a variety of sectors.
Commenting last year’s results, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity) told members of the press that last year was relatively successful in attracting investments. However, he added that one main problem remains – the lack of a qualified workforce and specialists.
